Sukhbir Singh Badal Accuses Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi of Colluding Against Punjab on Water Rights

BJP-ruled states Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi, in collusion with the Government of India (GOI), have conspired to deprive Punjab of its legitimate share of water from the Bhakra Dam, as decided in a recent meeting of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB). This unprecedented bullying and looting of Punjab’s resources is a vengeful act against the state’s farmers and will destroy both the farmers and Punjab’s agricultural economy if not stopped in time. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is playing a double game, assuring the Haryana CM of releasing additional water while making appropriate statements for media consumption. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will not let this conspiracy succeed at any cost.SAD’s demands:Immediate restoration of Punjab’s representative as Member, Power, in the BBMB.Revocation of the permission given to allocate additional water to other states.Concrete action by the Aam Aadmi Party government to ensure that additional water is not released to Haryana, as per Punjab’s clear stance. The additional water already flowing into Haryana through headworks in Punjab must be stopped.If Bhagwant Mann succumbs to pressure from Haryana and the central government and sells out Punjab’s interests, the Akali Dal will launch a mass agitation to protect the state’s water rights.
