Punjab Government’s Big Announcement: No Power Cuts in Summer, PSPCL Fully Prepared

Chandigarh, April 17, 2025: The Punjab Government and the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) have taken significant steps to meet the state’s electricity needs during the summer season.the Punjab Government has decided that there will be no major power cuts in the state during the summer, ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply for domestic and commercial consumers.

Key Details:

Electricity Demand: The state is expected to face a demand of approximately 17,000 megawatts during this season, primarily driven by paddy cultivation and rising temperatures. PSPCL has made advance arrangements to meet this demand.

Support from Central Pool: To fulfill the state’s electricity needs, the Punjab Government will procure additional power from the central pool. This will help maintain a balance in electricity production and supply.

No Major Power Cuts: It was decided in a meeting that no significant power cuts will be imposed during the summer season. This ensures continuous electricity supply for all consumers, particularly in the domestic and agricultural sectors.

PSPCL’s Preparations: PSPCL has strengthened its infrastructure and arranged additional resources to ensure a smooth power supply. This includes enhancing the capacity of power projects and upgrading the distribution system.

Government’s Strategy: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has prioritized electricity supply. The aim is to ensure that farmers, industries, and the general public face no inconvenience during the summer season.
