MI vs SRH :Mumbai defeated Hyderabad by 4 wickets

In the 33rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Mumbai Indians (MI) faced Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Mumbai Indians won the match by 4 wickets on April 17 (Thursday) at the Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai’s English all-rounder Will Jacks delivered an outstanding performance with both bat and ball. Besides taking 2 wickets, Jacks also scored 36 runs.

Mumbai Indians were set a target of 163 runs, which they chased down in 18.1 overs. This was the third win in seven matches for the five-time champion Mumbai Indians in the current season, while it marked the third loss in seven matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians had a solid start. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton, who came in as an ‘Impact Sub,’ added 32 runs in 3.5 overs. Rohit Sharma looked in fine form but couldn’t convert his start into a big score. He scored 26 runs off 16 balls, including 3 sixes, before being dismissed by Pat Cummins.

Ryan Rickelton also showed good form but failed to carry his innings forward. He was dismissed by Harshal Patel after scoring 31 runs off 23 balls with five fours. Following this, Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav forged an explosive 52-run partnership for the third wicket. Suryakumar scored 26 runs off 15 balls, including two sixes and two fours, before being dismissed by Pat Cummins.

Mumbai Indians’ fourth wicket fell when Will Jacks was run out on a delivery from Cummins. Jacks scored 36 runs off 26 balls, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. From there, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma took Mumbai close to victory. Pandya was dismissed for 21 runs by Ishan Malinga when Mumbai needed just 1 run to win. Surprisingly, Mumbai then lost Naman Dhir (0). However, Tilak Varma sealed the victory for Mumbai by hitting a four on the first ball of the 19th over.
